I luuuuv me some GOLD CARD!!!

Yes I realize how many grammatical/spelling/strange errors there are in that title. WHO CARES!! :) We are talking about awards here people :) FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lindsey over at Learning to be a Wife just gave me a brand new award :) Sweet girl. It's called the "Blogging Friends Forever Gold Card." (now if only we could shop with this thing!!) Thank you so much. I love your blog and am so glad you read mine... bloggy friends forever :)

So here are the "rules" for this awesome award.
1. You may only choose five people/blogs to give the award to. (Why oh, why, only 5??? Boo!)
2. Four have to be dedicated followers of your blog.
3. One has to be a new follower of your blog or live in another part of the world.

Giving out these awards is fun, but it's so hard because I have such a LONG Blog "follow" list. I love so many! Since the RULES STATE that I MUST ONLY GIVE IT TO FIVE and they have SUCH SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS.... :) here we go!

1. Misadventures of a Newlywed - This blog-lady is quit the shopper and fellow GA resident :) She is blunt and to the point and says what she thinks no matter what and I appreciate that in a person. Her posts always have me laughin' and thinkin' and smilin' :) Check her out!

2. Newlywed Central - She is such a sweet girl. I enjoy her posts so much that we now Gmail-chat while working through our days :) Check out her wise words of wisdom.

3. Tales of a Northern Belle - This one is a hoot. Her stories of "Parrothead" and her SIL are so entertaining! Her posts are always a good read and she is as real as they come. Check her out!

4. Blue-Eyed Bride - Let's face it. We were meant to be friends :) She and I are actually going to start a blog together (be on the lookout). Her posts are so fun and diverse. She writes about so many fun things, you never know what to expect and that's a good thing because ALL of her posts are AWESOME :)

5. Just a Girl... & Her Dogs - We are new to each other's blogs! I think I found her first then she checked my blog out :) This Florida girl is HILARIOUS!!! She has been through some serious stuff but she is sooo witty and funny and has a great outlook on life :) Definitely an inspiration to read. And one heck of a writer :)

Enjoy girls... now if we could all just cross our arms, blink our eyes and nod our head and magically appear at some fabulous mall (or say Atlantic Station-H&M) we could use this Gold Card! Dang!

Let's lighten this day up a bit!

With all this talk of politics, the economy, gas shortage, blah blah blah... I wanted to lighten up the mood a little in bloggyland today :) Now I certainly do realize that our economy is in all kinds of trouble, and I am just as worried as the next, but I am pretty sure that it's out of my little ol' hands so I am really trying not to fret too much, as I truly believe God will take care of it all. Some people might think that I am stupid because I don't "get" all this economy biz (why yes I am when it comes to politics, policies, stock market, financial anything) and maybe I am a little strange because I am not freaking out about our economy. Typically I am a freaking worry wart times 100, but not about this for some reason! So anywho, to lighten the mood over here, I have been searching for "Couples" Halloween costumes. I haven't found anything just yet for Adam (husband) and I, but I have found some pretty funny/knee-slapping things that I thought I would share. Sorry this isn't as exciting as "Scary Subway Man." I am just glad my lunch was uneventful today. Well not totally, but that is to be told in another post... :)

Let me introduce you to... Annie's Costumes. Browse around and laugh a lot :) Here is my contribution to today's much needed laughter time :)

This one is a shout out to Make Mine a Mojito. Check out her Miscellaneous Monday post from yesterday here. Mr. Mojito wants them to be Mustard and Ketchup. :) When I saw this outfit, I almost died. It actually does exist :) She might be in trouble now that I found these :) ha!

This next fun costume has me thinking this might be a good idea for us this Halloween :) I just think it's hilarious!!! He's a brick layer and she's a "Brick House" (remember my post about "bitch owwwwww"?? it's just so fitting!!) I mean I realize it's a little inappropriate (read his name tag) but it's so dang funny!!!!

How funny is this? I seriously doubt my husband would go for this :)

I don't know who would wear this, but if they did, they would surely win a costume contest :) haha. Yes that really is a costume, you can find it here.

Ok, this one isn't funny, but so cool I think :) I kinda want to go for that "dramatic look" this year instead of that "hooker-ish look" ha!

I told my husband that I really wanted to do something fun and paint my face and wear fake eyelashes (he looked at me like I was crazy). :) I need help ladies. What are you and yours going as??? I don't know why I am stressin', we don't even have anywhere to go. But Halloween is on a Friday and I am bound and determined to have a little "spooky" fun this year :) Next year, God willing, I will hopefully be preggers. So this could be the last "Adult Halloween" for us. We need to go out with a bang :) haha! HELP!

Scary Subway Man!!

Woah, interesting lunch break. I always go home for lunch because a) it saves money 2) it's healthier and c) I live 10 minutes from work! My coworker asked me to run by Subway to get her a sandwich on my way back. Sure I will :) So I go in and there's like 2 people in there eating and 2 people in line. So I tell the lady what I want and then I hear (pardon the language as it was not me speaking) "I ain't payin no $8 for no mutha f**kin' sandwich!!!" I'm like woah. I look over and this guy is raising hell in this Subway and I am like, oh great... now, he might shoot this place up! (That is my wonderful anxiety and nerves). I hear the cashier explaining that a Double Stack (never heard of it) isn't on the $5 foot long menu. The guy is all "Well the sign says $5 foot long, all day, every day!" The lady (so kindly) says "Sir at the bottom it says in fine print "Double Stacks are not included!" Now I understand how much FINE PRINT sucks!! But come on, it is not necessary to go all crazy/mental on the cashier like it's her fault. So he asks to see the manager. By the way PROPS to the cashier. She really handled it super well! So he sits down in a booth to wait on the manager. He's sitting right behind me and I am telling them what I need on my sandwich and I hear (loud) "They better refund my money before I go F**kin' crazy up in here!" I am like OK, it's time for me to go. So I am rushing trying to finish my order, pay and get outta there. In the mean time, he is sitting back there mumbling something along the lines of, "I am getting out of my car and looking at the sign that says '$5 foot long' and I just come in and order, I ain't payin' attention to no FINE PRINT!" (like anyone cares) I am like who is he talking to, me? SO I turn around and his hands are in the air moving around and he is raising all hell, talking to no one specific!! I am like DUDE, calm down. But of course I don't say a word, I just hurry out of that place. Not good for business! Oh well, I made it out safe. And for Subway's sake, I hope they just refunded the lunatic his $8.

PS- I am very aware of the overuse of the word "like" in this post (and all other posts). I don't know what has gotten into me today (these days)!

We can all relate (well most)!

So I subscribe to a Daily Devotional called Proverbs 31 Ministries. I get an email everyday with a wonderful message. I have to admit though that I don't always open it, but I save and archive them all. But when I do read them, it's amazing how God speaks to me. AMAZING indeed! Today the subject of the email and title of the devotional was "Upside Down". I don't know what made me open it today (well, yes I do, He did!) but I did and started reading as tears came to my eyes. Luann Prater is the author and you can read about her here. And subscribe to her devotionals here. They are short and sweet but powerful!! Here is what today's said:

Upside Down
Luann Prater
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?” Matthew 6:25 (NIV)

Everything in my closet is shrinking! Do you notice it too? It is amazing how a little extra around my waist causes my pants to rise above my ankles! And I am sure that since I hit the 50 mark, the Michelin Tire Man has taken up residence inside my skin. I don’t need an inner tube when swimming in the lake with my grandkids; I have one permanently affixed to my middle!
Recently I made a commitment to get back on track with my eating habits, choosing vegetables instead of bread, and fruit instead of snacks. Even though I know this is the right approach, I have found that it tends to consume my thoughts. Aren’t we funny creatures? We seem to major in the minors of life.
The Bible teaches us to put first things first; to seek God before all else. And yet, we continually put Him somewhere on the to-do list with everything else. He has proven to me over the years that if I put Him first, all the other things will fall into place. So why is it so hard to do that on a day-in, day-out basis?
1 Chronicles 16:11 tells us, “Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always.” So what do I do instead of seeking the Lord? Often I seek my own will or pleasure before I seek God. Sometimes I’m more interested in getting what I want before I ask what He wants. Other times, I operate in my own logic and strength – calling my own shots according to what seems right to me.
When I live that way, I turn the guidance of the scriptures upside down. Matthew 6:33 clearly instructs us, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
So here is what I’ve learned recently on my quest to eat right. When I begin my day seeking Him, my appetite stays in check. Period. When I truly focus on my relationship with Him, eating is just where it needs to be. It becomes part of my day but not the focus of my day. God’s ways do work – we just have to follow them. So I challenge you, turn your logic upside down this week and begin each day seeking the One who created you.
Dear Lord, thank You for being enough. Teach us each day to seek Your face before all other things in our lives. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

If any of you ladies would like me to forward you this email to read (there is more to it-scriptures, reflections, power verses) just leave me your email address and I will be more than happy to share! :)

I will help keep H&M in business forever!!!!!!

This weekend was AMAZING! And by amazing, I mean exhausting! Let's see where did I leave off Friday? Oh yes, my mom and I were going to Auburn to shop. We get there and wow is it crowded... let me mention there was a home game Saturday against Tennessee (we won whoooooooo, not pretty, but hey a wins a win I always say) :) So we start going in all of these precious boutiques in downtown Auburn (which is walking distance from the campus and dorms). Immediately I FELT OLD! I mean I only graduated 3 years ago. Why do all these girls look 12? Wearing their Soffe shorts and Auburn/Sorority shirts (that's what we wear everywhere in Auburn, unless we are going "out"). I asked my mom if she thought they looked young and she agreed so I felt a little better. All of the shops were so crowded and I mean CROWDED! It was chaos in there. Also I realized pretty quickly that I had almost "out grown" (and by that I mean my age not size-ha) these stores. The clothes were a little "young" for me! Don't get me wrong, I plan to be dressing stylish and fashionable always, but all this clothing was a little... to put it nicely "small". (errr.... slutty)! :) So we just bummed around downtown enjoying the fall/Auburn atmosphere then ate dinner and headed back home to good ol' GA!

Saturday was an adventure! Me driving in a big city (ATL) with Mapquest directions... woah! Our first stop was Atlantic Station (H&M among other stores)... needless to say, we loved that place so much we didn't make it to our other destinations (Lenox and Phipps). We first passed by Old Navy, and I can I just say... they have some FABULOUS fall finds and sales like crazy! If you spend at least $100 you get 40% off your ENTIRE purchase. So mom and I went crazy in there... I have officially gone cardigan crazy. I don't even know how many I bought. :) I got two really cute dresses in there for work (would post pics but they aren't on the website!). Anyway-got to an Old Navy soon!
Then from there, we decided to try and find H&M because that was our MAIN reason for being at Atlantic Station. We find it...walk in... and I am in HEAVEN!
*NOTE: If you have NEVER been to an H&M. GO! You will be in fashion heaven!!!
Ok, I immediately spot like 10 things I have to have. An hour and 30 minutes later I am trying on. 30 minutes after that, I am trying on again. Needless to say, my mom did some damage to her Visa in that place! I don't have pics because H&M doesn't sell online but please please go to one soon. I have been dying to go for years and when I heard one was coming to Atlanta I almost died. I waited 4 months to go and it was sooo worth it!!!!!!!!!! I literally have a whole new wardrobe from there (THANKS MOM!!!)
Then we walk out and what do I see... NINE WEST! Only my most favorite shoe store ever! We go in just to browse and I walk out with these... They are FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted booties for fall, but I decided to get these, they are "bootie like" and I love them!

We then hit up... Banana Republic, American Eagle, DSW and Old Navy again! I am so pumped about all of my new fall/winter clothes. Now I just need it to cool down for goodness sake. It's still hot down here in GA! Come on cold!

My weekend with my mom was a success. We had an amazing time, shopping, bonding, eating and playing with our pups! It made me miss those times with my mom. I was very sad to see her go yesterday. I cried a little. I usually do! But we will do it again in Dec (except it will be Christmas shopping) when we go to Birmingham to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra live. (If you haven't ever heard of them, go get their Christmas CD-you will not be sorry!) And while we are there, we might as well shop right?? :) I hope all of you lovely ladies had a great weekend as well. Here we go, another week...

8 minutes and I am out!

Well ladies we made it through another week. Thank goodness. :) Yesterday I was on top of blogging (3 I think), however, today... a work event has held me back (damn work!) It's ok though, in 8 minutes I am off to shop til I drop with my mom. My husband is in St. Simon on a bachelor party (oh me!) so my mom came in town last night so I don't have to stay by myself, not that I mind "by myself time" but I miss my "mom and me time." We haven't had any alone bonding time at least since I got married, so I am taking full advantage of spending time with my BFF/Mom! Last night I cooked us dinner and forced her to watch all my shows. Bless her, she didn't complain one time, she just asked a lot of questions (Can you imagine how I had to explain Grey's-yeah it was REALLY difficult!) But it's ok, she's so fabulous, I don't mind! This morning, I came on to work while she took my precious Dansby (shih tzu) to get a haircut. Let me digress one moment to explain his hair cuts...

Ok, he is so difficult to groom because he doesn't like it when strangers touch his face and feet. HE WILL BITE YOU! So I used to have to take him to the vet, they knocked him out (with an $80 pill or shot) then we would go and have his haircut for $35. Boo on that $115 haircut. Hell mine is only $30. So I finally found a place that takes him, puppy cuts are $55. Yeah still FREAKIN ridiculous! So I go to pick him up after his first cut there and they say "Ummm, we have to charge you a 20% difficulty fee!" WHAT, difficulty fee. They should have called, but still it's only $66, half of what I did pay. So I don't' complain too much. Anyway so my precious baby boy (not so much baby as 5 years old) got him a nice little $66 haircut. I hope he looks good.

Back to shopping :) Ok well it's 2:00 and I am still bloggin'! I gotta get outta here and go home and change. My mom and I are off to Auburn to hit up some of my favorite shops from college. Then tomorrow we will be driving to Atlanta so I can go to H&M for the very first time. It's new and I am so freakin pumped!!!!!!!!! :) Then we will stop off at Lenox Mall and Phipps and gather some goodies! I can't wait. We always have the best time shopping... and did I mention that this is my "birthday present" from my mom???? Whooooooooooooooooo! Girls weekend officially begins :)

Y'all ladies have a great weekend. I will "talk to" you all Monday!

Welcome to Bloggyland...

My roommate from March 07 to March 08 has started a blog. Check her out. She is HILARIOUS and VERY WITTY so she is sure to be a funny one to read! Southern Shell Bell is her name and funny is her game :)

A little background on us... She is one of my best friends EVER! She is one of the most loyal people I know. Sweetest person ever. So here's a little tid bit about how we met :)

Setting the scene for you: (January 2007) In a loud ass bar standing in line to go to the bathroom (where there's one toilet-ugh) and I hear...
SSB (in a drunken slur): "Hey, I know you. I've seen you in here before and on MySpace. Your boyfriend is Adam. He is sooo HOT!"
Me: "Yep he is!"
SSB: more rambles, more rambles, more rambles :) haha!
And we have been best friends ever since :) ha! Weeeellllll... ALMOST right after that! We saw each other a few more times (sober) and then decided to have lunch. She was looking to move to LaGrange from Newnan since she worked in LaGrange and I was DESPERATELY needing a roommate to save some cash. But since I had lived alone for 2 years out of college, I was skeptical. Plus... HELLO, I just met her drunk ass at a bar (hahaha-kidding Shell, you know I will always cherish that story). During that lunch, I told her what I was looking for in a roommate and she agreed so there you have it, the rest is really history. We lived together for one whole year. She was there for me through some of my happiest and most trying times...

- All my sobs because Adam (husband) waited so damn long to tell me he loved me. (March 07 actually-he waited 9 months) (PS-I knew I loved him after like 1 month!)
- Losing my grandmother
- My Dad's triple bypass surgery
- My 25th Birthday Celebration
- My Engagement
- My Wedding
- And so much more.

She has been such a wonderful friend to me, she will never know how much I really appreciate her friendship.

Where is she now you ask... well the biatch (kidding) up and moved to Nashville one month before I got married. TRAUMATIZING for me! :) The person I leaned on the most in LaGrange (besides Adam) and she leaves me... Boo on you Shell Bell! :)

You know another amazing thing about this wonderful friendship we have... She and my husband are just as close as we are. I mean the three of us were roommates really for like the last 4 months. I miss her so much and PRAY and HOPE that she will hurry back "home" soon! You will always have a room at our house :) Adam and I have it all worked out for her so she can save money... JUST MOVE IN WITH US :)

We love you Shell, welcome to Bloggyland (it's so much fun!)!
Shell Bell and I out at "The Peach"
Shell Bell and I at my Bridesmaids Luncheon

And again after a few margaritas ( I know you can't see but we had on clip on nose rings just for shits and giggles) hehe :)

Just a 'lil fun!

Erin, at Blue-Eyed Bride created one of these and it is so pretty! I thought it was so cute and since I have nothing to do this morning (yeah right) I thought I would copy her :) Kudos to Erin! :)

Answer the following 12 questions about yourself in order to influence your mosaic! (my answers are in parentheses after each question):

1. What is your first name? (Lyndsey)
2. What is your favorite food? (Pizza)
3. What high school did you attend? (Alexandria HS)
4. What is your favorite color? (orange and blue)

12. Your Flickr name? (LyndsAU) -- this one won't work because I haven't uploaded any pictures, so I'm choosing to search for "puppies" because I ADORE them all!

All you have to do is type your answer to each of the above questions into Flickr's search. Using only the images that appear on the first page, choose your favorite and copy and paste each of the URL’s into the Mosaic Maker (3 columns, 4 rows)... Have fun!

Random (and maybe inappropriate) question!

I realize that this is kinda personal... but I gotta ask (being the least modest person you might ever meet)! So let me apologize to any that this might offend... So recently (3-4 weeks ago)I came off of my birth control (Yasmin) for several reasons and now I am freaking out because SERIOUSLY, I have read about some HORRIBLE side effects. And of course WEIGHT GAIN is one of them. I am trying to convince myself that it's the calzone/quesadilla/pizza/pizza(2) I ate this weekend that is making me gain but now I can't help but think maybe it's coming off the good 'ol BC that is making my pants a little tighter :)
Have you girls ever experienced any side effects after coming off of BC?

Tagged, Random Facts!

Learning to be a Wife tagged me in this fun little game! How super sweet of her! (PS Lindsey-I don't like for my food to touch either) :) I'm supposed to state 7 random or weird facts about myself and then tag 7 people. Here we go...

1. In my cabinets, I put the just cleaned dished on the bottom so all of them get used equally. I do the same thing with towels (freak, I know!)
2. Until I was like 17, I tought the lyrics to the song "She's a brick house..." were "She's a bitch ooowwwwww..." (Listen next time, it really does sound like that!)
3. I love college (Auburn) football (like a man does).
4. I am a big Dale Earnhart Jr fan (that's the Alabama redneck coming out in me!)
5. I have never broken a bone or sprained anything.
6. I LOVE to cook (never would have thought that)
7. I have well over 200 pairs of shoes!

Now I get to tag 7 of what I am now calling, MY BLOGGY FRIENDS!! :)

1. Our Jouney to Forever
2. More Wine Please
3. Make Mine a Mojito
4. no worries WYNN in love
5. The Purring Cat
6. Kelly Green and Navy
7. Petunia in Paradise

PS... Please excuse me if I sound VAIN from the last post... I'm really not, I am a woman! :)

Wrinkles... Who needs 'em!!

So turning 26 has caused me some freak-out moments! BIG TIME! As you all know, if you have been reading my blog for a few weeks, I have bangs and have been contemplating getting rid of them. Well last night, I was sitting on the couch with my husband and I had my bangs pushed back and I said, "You know, I am getting some serious wrinkles!" He said nothing!!! I was expected at least a "You are crazy!" But no, nothing! All the time I am obsessing over something on my body (I hate that about me). I am obsessed with something new all the dang time. One day it's my weight, the next-my hair, the next-my wrinkles, the next-my cellulite, the next-my arms, the next-my thighs, the next-my arms (yeah I think that about covers the weekly routine!)! Well lately, it's been a lot of stressing over my weight ('cause I have gained since getting married-and I was determined not to do that) and my new found wrinkles! Now, I must take some responsibility for them, you see, I used to love the tanning bed. Not so much anymore because I am seeing what it does to you. (Oh if I had only listened to my mother-how many times do I say that in a week???) The main problem area is my forehead... hence maybe I am keeping the bangs a while longer! :) There's these three lines and they are deep and I am freakin' :) I want them gone, I mean I don't have any reason to have wrinkles right???? RIGHT! I am only 26, I have no kids, very little REAL stress! Ahhhh, why are they here!!!!!!!!! Why why why!!! So that brings me to my questions for you girls!

1. How do you feel about Botox??
- I am not anti-but I don't particularly have the money for that right now. I wouldn't do it all over my face, but I am okay with doing it around my eyes and forehead. I remind my husband daily that he knew when he married me that I obsess over the way I look (again-I realize this is WRONG and I shouldn't' do it and I really do hate that about me)! And he knew I would one day be expensive due to trying to look what I consider to be "my best!" But who knew it would come at age 26?? :)

2. Have any of you tried any anti wrinkles treatments??
- I have heard that StriVectin HS is amazing for wrinkles. But at $153/0.9 oz... I am not sure if I want to "test it"!

For about 8 months or so I have been using Super Line Preventor Xtreme by Prescriptives. And I love it. For many reasons, but I don't feel like it's done a whole lot for my wrinkles! Now Prescriptives has come out with NEW Super Line Preventor Xtreme Lifting Concentrate! I really want to try it, but again I am skeptical to just "try it." I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars (and I am sure my husband doesn't want me to either) trying these products if they aren't going to give me a wrinkle-free forehead :) ha!

Give me some tips ladies... I am desperate for help!!!

Dying to be Wrinkle-free!

In other news...

I have some pretty exciting things to say, ooookkkkkk, well they aren't THAT exciting, but they are news that I want to share, with who I refer to with my husband as, MY BLOGGY FRIENDS! I can't believe how much I said that all weekend. It's funny to him, I think. He doesn't understand :)
On to the news...

- I PASSED THE GACE!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhh!!!!! For those of you who don't know what that is, it's similar to the PRAXIS! And if you don't know what that is, these are tests that you have to take to get on the road to becoming a teacher. I have a Beachelor of Arts in PR but I have now decided that I want to teach. And taking this test was the first step... and I freakin passed! I was shocked. That test was tough for me. I am not a good standardized test taker, so it was a lil' stressful for me! I was thrilled to see that when we got home from the wedding. So now my next step is to enroll in a Master's of Art in Teaching program (it's 14 months). Pass the GACE content test in Middle School Math and English and start interviewing. How exciting??? :)
So keep your fingers crossed for me that everything works out and I can teach next fall. (SIGH OF RELIEF)!!!

- "Diets are a girls worst enemy!" I always say! I diet, stop, diet, stop, diet, stop.... NON STOP! Seriously! I have been dieting for oh say 7 years now. Since high school anyway. But the older I get, or course, the harder it is. Well, I have def gained some poundage lately and it has got to go! I mean now is the time to think about bikini season for '09! UNFORTUNATELY! Boo! So I have started again. My problem is I get so dang burnt out on dieting. I really don't struggle Mon-Fri. But dang those weekends... and my mom is coming in town Thursday and will be here through Sunday (husband is off for a bachelor party). So you know we will be eating out! (and shopping) :) So basically I have seen results with Weight Watchers. I really like it and you can eat what you want, but it's tough to follow for extended periods of time for me. But I am back on it, and after the first of the year I am going to meetings. Just to keep me accountable! So anyway... anyone out there that wants to start it with me, we could be accountability blogger friends :)

- Preppy Little Dress' giveaway arrived... I was so dang excited. It arrived Thursday before I left for my trip. It was almost like getting another birthday present :) She sent me the cutest "Boo" Halloween bag, a yummy candy covered rice krispy treat, a Williams-Sonoma cookbook for fall and HELLO a $15 Starbucks giftcard, so I can't wait to get a Pumpkin Spice latte. Thank you again. I love it all!

I think that is all for now... til tomorrow!!! :)

A hurricane... A birthday... A wedding...

As promised ladies!!! :)
Ok, so let me first say. I hate flying. I will leave it at that! (And FYI...ironically that horrible plane crash that left DJ AM and Travis Barker badly burned and killed 4 others happened Saturday)

I really have no idea where to start with this weekend. I want to first thank my sweet and wonderful husband for still making my birthday (Saturday) a special one, even though we had a crazy/hectic/busy weekend with all of the wedding chaos!! We "celebrated" Thursday night with dinner at Mellow Mushroom! And shoe shopping :) Then back home to open presents :) I of course have to post on my wonderful gifts from him!

I had hinted several times that I wanted this... (if you haven't had the pleasure of sniffing this amazing-ness please go today) :) It's to die for!

He shocked me with this... I am a HUGE fan of Ed Hardy and on 90210 one night, Silver had on one of his scarves. And I said randomly that I would love to have one (thinking I would never get one). Well husband listens well because he got me this beauty! I LOVE IT!

And for my last gift... he got me a HOBO!!!! :) Well almost. The lady at the store lied to him... and led him to believe he was buying a HOBO. Because it was similar in price he thought it was right. Bless his heart, he didn't know. So he is taking it back and ordering me one online :) He now understands the difference between "hobo" style and an actual HOBO! :) I will be getting the "Lauren" in black! Isn't my husband so wonderful and sweet and thoughtful and amazing??? Thanks honey!

Ok...wedding wedding wedding! We arrived Friday around noon, with not much to do. We didn't have a rental so we were pretty much stuck at our hotel (after that $60 cab ride)! The hotel had major renovations going on from Ike! So the restaurants/bars were closed. All except for one! So we grabbed a bite to eat! I mean I can imagine at normal times, this place was SUPER NICE! The pool was closed (THANKS IKE)! So there wasn't much to do. We met up with a few others there for the wedding and just hung out. Finally the bar opened... I have never wanted alcohol so much! ha!

The rehearsal dinner was really nice. I of course had to change up the menu options because I am so dang picky... and complicated! The speeches were great and the WINE WAS AMAZING! :) But here is what I wore that night! (Yes, I wore the gold to the rehearsal dinner instead of the wedding).

Husband and I at the rehearsal!

My friend Amanda and I!

After the rehearsal dinner we went to a little bar in the hotel and had some birthday drinks (and maybe a few shots). It was a lot of fun! Then, Saturday after the brunch, we laid by the pool to get some sun before the big event. Again, the pool was closed and the sun was bright, so I think we lasted about 2 hours in the sun :) HOT! Then, it was off to eat a bite and rest (from the shots). :) We were shuttled off to the wedding, which was beautiful. It was a candle light ceremony because there was no power. Crazy huh? Can you imagine how hot it was in Texas?? Oh yeah...dang hot! Everyone was fanning themselves. So so hot! Poor men in tuxes. The reception was like something I have never seen. Absolutely beautiful. They had a sushi bar, seafood bar, OPEN BAR :) It was great. They also had other "eats" too! We danced and sang along to a wonderful band! The only downside... HUSBAND AND I WERE FREAKING ABOUT THE AUBURN/LSU GAME! So we had our phones out the first 45 minutes of the receptions reading play by play what was going on... and in case you care... we lost the game with 3 minutes to go! Grrrrrrrrrrrr! Anyway... overall, the weekend was fun. Several things I could complain about, but I will stay on the positive side today!! :) It was a sweet ceremony, my birthday celebrations, although interrupted, were great! My husband's the best! Here are some pics from the weekend!!!

I woke up to this Saturday morning!!! How sweet of my husband to get up earlier and sneak around to get these BIRTHDAY decorations up :) Yeah he's great!

If you ladies have any questions, I am happy to answer. I just have so much information in my brain from this weekend, I can't get it all out in one post. I am sure to have random bits and pieces in this weeks posts... and maybe next week too :)

Soon, very soon!

Hello ladies! I promise to post all about the wedding (it might just have to be a two part blog I have so much to say) VERY SOON! I was out of work Friday and yesterday so it's chaos on my desk! As I am sure you can imagine!! So sorry to keep you waiting... but pics are soon to be posted along with some details :) Thanks for all of your sweet comments on the gold dress! I'll be baaaaack...

GOLD IT IS!! Thanks girls!

Thank you all so much for the help! I think I have decided on the gold Niki Livas. I really appreciate all of your sweet comments. I know I will be the only girl out of the girls I know there with a short dress on, but hey who cares? Dare to be different right?? :) (PS-they ended up having to change the church, reception venue and rehearsal dinner venue. So it's been a stressful week for them I am sure!)
Well I won't be blogging 'til next Tuesday... Please pray that we have a safe flight and everything is ok in Houston. Then I will be lounging around the house with my husband all day Monday! (It's my BIRTHDAY Saturday so I am taking Monday as MY DAY :) Ahhhh, so nice! So I will catch up on all my "girls" blogs Tuesday!
I will have plenty of pics when I return. So let's hope I don't freak out when we get there and want to wear a different dress :) ha. I have been know to be indecisive every now and then!

Here are the dresses I am contemplating wearing to the wedding this weekend girls. One to the wedding and one to the rehearsal. I would love to have all of your wonderful opinions to help me decide. :) (and I gotta decide fast. We leave at 7:30 in the AM)! And remember it's BLACK TIE! Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!!! :) TGIF!

Here we go...
Dress #1: "The Golden Girl" from Niki Livas

Dress #2: Laundry by Shelli Segal Twist Front Long Dress (what you can't really tell in the picture is the twist right at the boobs)

Dress #3: By Robbie Bee. Ok this was difficult because I couldn't find a d*** picture online. I borrowed this from my friend Heather. Here is a picture of her in it at my rehearsal dinner. Let me try and describe... It's to the ankle. It's a fitted statin dress with a like flyaway see through scarf-like thing over it. It's really cute! Husband loves this one!

Dress #4: This one is by Suzi Chin . Couldn't remember who my dress was made by, so I had to find a replica and this was the best I could do :) Forgive me :) The only difference is mine is a black with a nude underlay. It's knife pleated all over with a cute belt.

Yummy to my tummy!

GREAT FOR TAILGATES/PARTIES/DINNER/LUNCH/BREAKFAST/SNACK... anytime really where eating is involved! ! I have carried this recipe to a couple of dinners/lunches/events recently and it has been a HUGE hit at all of them... it has nothing to do with my cooking skills, it's ALL the recipe. It is scrumpdiliumpious!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Get that?) Try this out, if you are a wing lover, you will LOVE THIS! And if you aren't (like me) you will LOVE THIS! It is amazing. AMAZING I SAID! Please try it out and let me know what you (and the husbands) think!
It's called Buffalo Chicken Dip and did I mention the amazingness of this??? Literally I could live off of this :)

Here's what ya need:
- 2 cans of all white chicken (you will find it over by the the canned tuna-not the smallest can but the next size)
- 2 packs of cream cheese (4 sticks)
- two tablespoons of butter
- 1 cup of wing sauce (any kind is good)
- 1 cup of ranch dressing (I use Hidden Valley)
- 2 cups (or more) of shredded cheese (I use cheddar)

Here's how to cook the goodness:
I always throw the chicken (look through it cause there will be some fatty nastiness in there) :) in a pan with the butter and let it cook for a minute (or 5) on like medium/low. In another pan melt the cream cheese on like med/low til its all creamy. Then add the ranch and wing sauce to it. Mix well, then add that to the chicken. Mix that well. Take a oven safe baking dish and spray lightly with Pam. Then pour the mixture in it. Then put as much cheese as you want on the top. I like LOTS! Cook for 30-45 minutes. 30 is really plenty. Cook it on like 400 for 30 or 350 for 45. :)
And honestly... it CAN BE "NOT THAT BAD" for you. I use Low-fat cream cheese, fat free Hidden Valley ranch, 2% cheese and the wing sauce I use has 0 calories and 0 fat grams. However, I serve it with Fritos Scoops :) That kills the healthiness of it :) But I have served it before with celery or baked tostitos too! And I can imagine it would be good spread on some little pita chips or bread too!

Good luck ladies. Trust me it is so yummy!!

Black Tie Affair...HELP!

Well the Houston wedding is still on for this weekend. The wedding I mentioned in my blog before. Houston was hit so hard by Ike, I can't imagine what the bride was going through this weekend wondering if she would be able to go on with her wedding. I felt/feel so sorry for her. Apparently the church is ok. They are trying to come up with a back up reception place in case it doesn't get up and running with power by Saturday. And our hotel is back open for business today with little damage. (which I am so glad about because it is really really nice and I am looking forward to spending my birthday by this awesome pool) So... the weekend is still on. We will be flying to Houston Friday morning.
So my dilemma is... what to wear (isn't it always???)! I have several options, but I am just not sure what to wear. I, of course, wanna look as fancy as everyone else (I mean HELLO, not only am I celebrating a wedding, I'm celebrating my 26th BIRTHDAY too!!!). Here's my dilemma. Most girls I have talked to (ohhhh all 3 of them) are wearing long dresses to the wedding. It is black tie. I mean like, you ain't comin' in the door with a suit on... better be a tux... kinda wedding! Husband is in the wedding and all the groomsmen are wearing tails (I will laugh a little-not that I think tails are a bad thing... it's just that we aren't that fancy folks). The bridesmaids have trains. I mean this thing is gonna be SUPER FANCY I have a feels (REMINDER: George Bush is supposedly going to be there!!). So here's my question ladies... what do I wear? Is long necessary for the wedding or would a fancy cocktail dress do? I will try to post pics tomorrow of my options and let you all vote :) I am waiting on one dress to arrive so I can show you all of my options! But what do you think? I am driving my husband crazy so I need me some girly advice :) Welcome to a blog where indecisive-ness runs wild! :) CHAOS!!!!!

PS--For you football girls I know you will appreciate this... DANG ESPN GAMEDAY IS IN AUBURN THIS WEEKEND... AND I WOULD BE THERE TOO IF IT WEREN'T FOR THIS WEDDING! CAN ANYONE SAY... "WOW YOU'RE A GREAT WIFE!!!!!!!" :) (wink)

These are the days of our lives!!!

I am going to try really hard not to sound down and out on this blog! Because I am not. My life is good, I am newly married, I have a wonderful family, blessed beyond words... but there is one horrid thing that I can't seem to get a hold of in my life... WORKING OUT!! As I have mentioned before, I am CONSTANTLY trying to be skinnier/healthier...always trying to better my bod :)

Ok let me explain a little background... in high school I was a cheerleader. Slim and slender at 5'9"! A size 6 (and I thought I was fat then!), flat stomach, shapely legs and slender arms! Ok well... on to college... I worked out all through college at the Student Act. just your basic cardio. Ok now let's fast forward to 3 years out of college. I am one size bigger... and several pounds heavier. I have never been what I call "tiny." I mean I am tall so I try not to beat myself up too bad, but I desperately want to me my "perfect" size 6! So, you might ask, what's holding you back from achieving that goal??? Well, let's evaluate! As far as food goes... I am one of the pickiest eaters you will ever meet (or read about :) ) It's bad. I don't really like meat. I don't really like vegetables. So what do I like you ask? CARBS CARBS CARBS!! Pasta, rice, bread... PIZZA (mmmm). So I try to count my calories each day so I don't go overboard. I do pretty well Monday-Friday at lunchtime. Then for some reason I think it's time to go CRAZY on the weekend and eat everything in sight! :) It's almost like calories don't count Friday night - Sunday :) So you see, my diet is one problem but I think I do pretty well with it given I am SUPER PICKY!! On to the next challenge... I workout 4-5 days a week. And I refuse to miss a day! I can be sick... I am there! Here's my typical workout schedule...
Monday: 30 minutes on the elliptical/Body Pump (calories usually burned - 800)
Tuesday: 1 hour of walking & elliptical OR Spinning (calories usually burned - 600-700)
Wednesday: 30 minutes on the elliptical/Body Pump (calories usually burned - 800)
Thursday: 1 hour of walking & elliptical OR Spinning (calories usually burned - 600-700)
Friday: 30 minutes on the elliptical/Body Pump (calories usually burned - 800)

So you see, my schedule is pretty repetitive! But that's ok because I love Body Pump. Now here is where my question for you all comes in... whether you work out or not I would love to hear some advice and how you deal with this day to day!
Where I am struggling with this is... where do you find time to be a GREAT WIFE (because I desperately want to be the most AWESOMEST!!) Now one good thing I do have on my side is that my husband works out too. At the same time, so at least that isn't a conflict!
See with all of those days, I go right after work and don't leave the gym until... sometimes between 6:30 and 7! Then I rush home, let the dogs out, cook super, clean kitchen, shower, plop on the couch and I am so dang sleepy. Where do I find time to... run to WalMart, get my cell phone fixed, go to the post office, cuddle with hubby, wash clothes, clean house????? You get my drift? This is my daily schedule. It rarely changes from Monday to Friday. And I refuse to miss a workout so that really cuts into to any social life I might have Monday - Friday. But I just can't help it. All of our friends hit up Trivia at a local bar on Tuesday but guess where you will find me??? THE GYM!
But I have decided to start getting up Tuesday and Thursday at 5 and going to the gym and getting that over with to have my afternoon's free to do what I need. WELL TODAY I DID IT!!!! Let me tell you, it was TOUGH. Wow, getting up at 5 and losing that other hour and a half of sleep was BRUTAL! Especially since my husband was still sleeping so peaceful when I left. Boo. I drove 10-15 minutes to get to the gym. Worked out for an hour and then drove 10-15 minutes back home to get ready for work. Now I will admit that after I was finished working out, I felt good. Got those endorphins going and the calories were burning up :) But getting up is the toughest part. But I just have to do it at least 2 days a week. That does mean giving up spinning on those days, but that's ok... I am kinda burnt out on that for now!

So tell me how you handle working out and balancing your home life! How do you handle a husband, working out, social life, kids????? It's tough for me I know. I am just hoping that it gets easier soon! :)

And the TAN is complete!

Thank you to all of you for your advice on the spray tan! I really appreciate your concern about me not getting a scary orange tan :)
So last night I went to get my spray tan. I have to admit I was a little nervous about it because I was so scared that something would go wrong: orange-y, streaked, uneven, etc! A million things (horrible things) were running through my mind! I did not know this person who was about to see my almost completely naked (which I wasn't looking forward to) and I had never been to the salon either! Ahhhh... anxiety central!
So I get to the salon (which is located in this old historic white building downtown and has several different business' inside). It's 7:15 and no one is in there. It is a little creepy because it's such an old building. So I finally figure out where to go and I walk in the salon and it's actually pretty cute inside... who would've thought in that old building would be a cute salon. Anyway, so she ushers me back to a tiny room that would remind you of a dressing room, but smaller. There was plastic on the floor and spray tan "stuff" all over the walls. She tells me to take off whatever clothes I want and then we would get started. (Have I mentioned I am a nervous wreck at this point). No idea what to expect... So I get down to my thongs and she tells me how to stand. So there I am, half naked, and there she is holding this stuff that could potentially make me look really scary! :) She starts spraying and HOLY COW it's so cold! Because as she sprayed, the thing had like a dryer thing on it. WOAH-FREEZING! It takes maybe 5 minutes for her to spray my whole body. Not too bad. So after we are finished... she explains that there is an instant bronzer in it, so if I see any patches of brown, it's the bronzer. So I tried not to PANIC when I saw several of those places on me.
I get home and I am showing husband my "tan line" and he's not too weirded out so that's a good sign. So she tells me that I should just get a towel and lay on the couch and not really do a lot of moving. So that is exactly what I did. I sat on my couch and watched "Big Brother" and "TMZ"!! Then we went to get in bed... THE TAN IS GETTING DARKER NOW! I put on pants so the "bronzer" wouldn't get all over my sheets and I pulled my comforter down so I wouldn't get it on that either. So i didn't sleep SUPER great you can imagine. So I wake up to get in the shower, turn on the light and I about PASS OUT... my face is ORANGE... and I am like, ok this has to be the bronzer and the fact that I am not fully awake and my bathroom has lots of bright lights.... right???? So I get in my shower and the water hits me and all this orange/brown stuff starts running off of my body! The "tanning lady" warned me this would happen and not to freak out... that's a good thing, because otherwise I would have immediately started crying! So I get out of the shower and my face looks pretty normal :) It's tan which is weird to see happen over night. Usually it's a gradual thing! My body looks pretty good. I notice one or two spots on my feet, but nothing so bad. Ok... well it's Friday and always on Friday I wear my orange and blue (Auburn wear...WAR EAGLE!!) So I come to work and no one really says anything, so I am like ok... it must not look that bad! Well then I start looking at my orange shirt, then my legs and arms... and it has progressively gotten worse. This morning I though it looked great. No streaks, no orange-y look. Well now I think I look freakin orange! And i am panicking. I am hating it more and more... but I am trying to make myself believe it's because I am wearing orange today :) Only time will tell. I have also heard that that "orange" look will go away after like a day, so let's all pray it does so I am not freaking the whole weekend. It's really not that bad if I don't sit and stare at it. :) But the more I stare the more scary it looks. I am thinking tanning bed might be the key next week to keep some color... unless by some miracle tomorrow it looks better.
But the good news is... its all even... no streaks and my face, I LOVE! It looks dark not orange-y! So we shall see. I tried to get a good picture but it's just not working out today! So imagine... a nice tan (slightly orange) and a very tall girl with orange on :) Better?? ha! I will try to get some this weekend to post for Monday!
Everyone have a GREAT weekend! Love!

Oh yeah and WAR EAGLE!!!

Sunset Tan... Georgia Style!

Well... I haven't blogged about it yet, but I might as well get a start on it :) So next Saturday (the 20th) is my birthday! YAY... oh wait... we will be in Houston, TX (where Ike is heading) for hubby's friend's wedding (yeah I will know like 5 people there)... and oh wait... that's also the AUBURN/LSU game (this is the biggest problem!). Ahhhhhhhhhhhh (that is me yelling)!!! So you see, we have some conflicts for that weekend. Me=UPSET (and done lots of bitching about it)!!!! But on a lighter note... it's going to probably be one of the nicest/biggest/most expensive weddings I have ever/will ever witness. I hear that George Bush Sr. will be there (we shall see)! Don't worry I will post many pics after we get back (and finish celebrating my birthday that this wedding is interrupting) :) Stay positive, stay positive... that's what I keep telling myself. The good news is that we are staying at a NICE hotel (one we wouldn't normally but that is where the wedding party (and hubby's in it) is staying, so...so are we) It has a spa and an AWESOME pool. So if it's pretty, I will tan tan tan, if it's nasty, I will spa spa spa :) And thank goodness my dear friend Amanda is going. So now, other than the bride and groom, his parents, his brother & sister and my husband, at least I have one other person I know! But to remedy this situation, hubby is taking me to 6-Flags (LOVE THAT PLACE) the Monday after and to a nice dinner the Sunday night we get back! Also I am expecting a SWEET present (not because I am "expecting it" but because he told me I will LOVE IT!) Don't want yall to think I am a present hungry biatch :) (but any present is good...well most) ha!

Ok now that I have gotten off of the subject... let's hop back on! So now that everyone is aware of all that (TMI)... I have another question??????? (what would I do without y'all today?) Has anyone ever had spray tan? I love being tan, not super tan but tan! I feel skinnier and healthier (I know CRAZY CRAZY)! In college I went to one where you got in the booth and it manually sprayed you, I liked it ok. I don't remember being streaked or orangey. The older I get the more I am not loving the tanning bed (boy did I when I was younger). So I decided for special events, I would do spray tan. Well I am trying not to panic too much today, but I am worried sick it's gonna look bad. I am giving it a try before the wedding next weekend, if all goes well, next Thursday I will be re-tanning :) I watch the show "Sunset Tan" but I don't know if this little town is exactly up to par with that place :) I have heard good things... but do tell me what you think... any bad/good experiences????

I have to try the spray tan so I don't look like this when I am 50 :)

This sounds like something I would do!

We all (or most) know that I love love love animals. Well when I read this story on FoxNews.com (click here to read) I thought to myself "That is sooo something I would do!!" And I would. For any animal!! I just had to share.
PS-Thanks to all of you who have responded so sweetly to my previous post... I need all the help I can get, considering I am so dang indecisive!!

Bangs...Or No Bangs??? That is the question!

First off... let me say that I realize whether or not to keep my bangs is a minute problem today, as today we REMEMBER 9/11. What a tragic day that was 7 years ago. I will never forget that day, EVER. It is a scary thing to look back on... Let us all thank God that we live in a free country and let us thank the men and women that serve our country so that we may be free. God Bless America and I for one am, PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!!!!
So before we got married (April 12, 2008) I was DYING to cut some really cute straight across, old school bangs, but I didn't let myself because I was wearing my hair pulled back out of my face for our wedding. I had seen them in some magazines (I think Reese Witherspoon helped with my final decision) and decided I needed something different. My hair is LONG and was getting boring to me! Well, I think maybe one day back from our honeymoon, I called my hair stylist and went over and we cut some really cute bangs; which I have loved and adored (and trimmed every 3 seconds it feels like) for almost 5 months now.... But now I am trying to decide what to do about them. And what better way to decide than to have my blogger friends help :) So I am posting two pre-bangs pictures and two current "bangy" pictures!

Let me know which way you think I should go! Keep the bangs... or NO!

Why do I love shoes so much???

It must be in my genes or something... I mean it is an obsession that is out of control! I really should never look online because I don't find like 1 or 2, I find like 25! :) Now my shoe "collection" has gotten out of control and I really have been trying to make a conscious effort to not buy any that weren't SUPER ON SALE or ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY (that gets me in trouble sometimes)! ha! But anyway, so a fellow blogger, Make Mine a Mojito, was asking for help with shoes to go with a bridesmaid dress she has to wear in October. She wanted brown, so I used this as an excuse to browse. Well I found some FABULOUS shoes that I thought would look great with her dress and they are only $50. Well the problem is... now I want them too :) I mean I have been sitting at my desk for 20 minutes looking at them trying to decide what to do. I know I don't NEED them, but they would look awesome for fall... Ahhhh... HELP!!! I am dying here! I wouldn't normally hesitate but you see September is an expensive month for hubby and I... for these reasons: Wedding in Houston, TX next weekend; my birthday; sister-in-law birthday; mother-in-law birthday; football season; already purchased hubby's bday presents for October! So you see... I really don't need to do this... but I probably will anyway... SHAME SHAME, BAD WIFE!! Nah... I will just convince hubby they are a good BARGAIN! Which they really are... they are regularly $100. And have I mentioned that this website is going to break my bank... 6 PM. That is where the shoes are located. I found this website from fellow blogger, Newlywedisms by Bryn (thanks!) So I guess maybe the real problem here is all my blog browsing :) ha... oh well... I guess our grocery fund will suffer a little this month... :) Here are the FAB shoes I was talking about above :)

And why we are on the subject... to share a couple of other SHOE BARGAINS that I found. Now I am not a HUGE lover of flats (although the older I get the more I appreciate them). I stand at a whopping 5'9" so when I wear heels I am one tall lady! But I just love them :) Any who... I am trying to get more into flats because they are hott right now! Here are some precious ones I found for a GREAT price. You can find these at this wonderful online store called LuLu's. Enjoy the eye candy :)
Bamboo $24 (what??? I know)
Bamboo $22 (ahhhh)

$23 (dyin' over here!!)

Qupid $26 (need help now!!)

Here's to hoping you don't all have the same "addiction" as me!! :)

My babies and their "morning madness"!

Good morning to all! :) Well it's Hump Day which means this week is half over... whooo!
So occasionally I am going to post random pictures so you get a little glimpse into the life of me and mine :) Today it's of my sweet babies... Dansby and Daizy! They are absolutely wonderful... but here's my "fun" story of the day! For some reason my Dansby (the black one), 5 years old in October, has decided to start pooping in the house. I don't know if it is some kind of rebellion that we haven't ever let him have sex (getting him fixed after the first of the year if not before) or if he is just mad at us about something (although I can't imagine what). He has this once place (in the office in front of the window) he does it, every dang morning. And we have a fenced in back yard so they get to stay outside for like 30 minutes in the morning! It's so frustrating. So, husband and I thought we would be clever and start shutting that door every morning... well he has moved his "business" to in front of the TV in the living room. I don't know what to do with this boy! He loves being outside, but apparently pooping in the morning out there is out of the question. I mean he walks around and pees on like 137 things around the yard, every blade of grass and even our patio chairs and table! Oh my! I have heard getting him fixed will help this little problem, so we will see... very soon I hope! I mean he knows what he can and can't do inside. He knows it's bad because when I scold him, he hangs his head and tucks his tail (which by the way...tears me up inside!). Any who, if any of you wonderful bloggers have ideas how to stop this "morning messy madness" I am up for hearing it! :) But here they are in their cuteness anyway :)
