Doggy Scare & Giveaway Prizes!

Burrrr... it's cold here in GA this morning! Thank goodness for my little personal heater or I would never make it through the day!!

So yesterday in my GIVEAWAY post I mentioned several things that I wanted to blog about this week. One of them was my precious Dansby's seizure (or I at least that's what I think it was). So here's the horrifying story...
Friday night after a looooong day of shopping (that will be blogged about later) for me and a 3 hour flag football game for Toys For Tots for Hubs we were exhausted. We went to bed at like 10:00 I think. We were staying at my parents and my old room is now the "guest room" and the bed is a full (that's always interesting for us two bed hogs)... so around 6 AM Saturday morning I feel Dansby (my boy) shaking. Sometimes Daizy shakes because she is nervous or cold, so it didn't freak me out at first. Then after I woke up a little I realized something was wrong. He was laying in between Hubs and I and I start yelling "Dansby, Dansby, what's wrong buddy?" Then Adam wakes up. I am at this point freaking out. Dansby is breathing loud and I can't find the freaking light to turn it on!! Finally I do and Dansby is laying on his side, tongue hanging to the side, foaming at the mouth (well really slobbering-but it was A LOT!), and shaking uncontrollably. His little 10 pound body was so stiff. I was about to freaking lose it. I think I may have said out loud (or in my head, I am not sure as I was in a state of pure panic) "I'm calling 911!" Like they can or would do anything. So after about a minute of us rubbing him and me wiping his beard of the slobber, he stops shaking. He wants to get up, so he stands and kind of walks sideways. So we don't let him walk for a minute. So I start to walk out of the room and he jumps off of the bed and follows me into the living room and he wanted to go outside. It was raining so we went out really quick and he seemed fine. We came back in and he had 2 spells of wheezing and breathing through his nose, like he does after a bath sometimes when water gets up his nose. I was a nervous wreck and still am! He has been fine ever since, but I am just so upset and worried that it could happen again when I am not home. I am calling the vet today just to see if there's anything I can do or they can do and see if they even think it was a seizure. I will update later. So keep my little Dansby in your thoughts. And keep me and my nerves in your prayers :)

So onto something that I kept you waiting on yesterday!!!

Awww I'm so sorry to hear about your dog, I'm keeping you guys in my prayers!

I had to laugh when you said you shared a full bed because at my grandparents we had to share a full bed too and it was difficult! I am a bed hog and I accidently elbowed Garth in the face! He was not very happy about that, ha!

my mother-in-laws little Jack Russell has seizures frequently. she had one the other night when we were there and she put him down too early and he toppled over as if he was really dizzy. I know they give him medicine everyday to prevent them but sometimes he still has them if he gets nervous!!

I am so sorry about your dog. I know how scary that can be and it makes you feel so helpless. The few weeks leading up to my wedding I came home 3 different times to find my baby with a GIGANTIC swollen head and hives all over his body. :) We still don't know what the heck he was getting into but it was still scary. Maybe that was just a one time thing for your baby.

I am so sorry to hear about your dog! I would have been terrified!! I hate it when dogs go through stuff like that and you have no idea what's going and obviously they can't talk to you either! It makes it so scary. I hope you all don't have to go through that again!

Love the giveaway!! Everything is so cute and Christmas-y!

I know how scary those types of episodes can be. My dog growing up, Pepper, had epilepsy but we were unaware of it until his first seizure. They weren't terribly regular so there wasn't medicine to give him but each time he had a seizure it tore me apart. I don't know that this is what your baby has but I just wanted you to know that I can totally empathize with what you went through that night. Hopefully the vet will put your mind at ease today. My thoughts & prayers are with you...

I love the prizes, but I'm so sorry to hear about little Dansby. I will keep him in my prayers - I know how scary it can be to have a dog that is acting kind of weird. One thing I know though is that dogs are pretty reslient! Keep me posted on him :)

you just described exactly what my now deceased shitzu used to do way too frequently in his old age. The vet put him on seizure meds and It helped.

My childhood dog, Missy, used to have seizures. I remember her first one, which was terrifying. We eventually had to put her on meds. I wish you the best of luck in determining what is wrong! Prayers for your furbaby!

Sorry about your puppy! Ours are like our children - so I can't imagine! You are in my thoughts this week!

Our old staffie had 2 very similar fits, we think they were strokes 'cos he's never been quite the same again. It's frightening to watch, and then it's over, and then you're left wondering what the hell just happened.
