Hungry lady!!

So I know that my baby is only the size of a orange seed and it doesn't require THAT much nutrients... then WHY AM I SO DANG HUNGRY??? I am eating for goodness sake! I mean I had complete self control and lost 24 lbs in 3 months... but all of a sudden I am craving things I know I shouldn't can't have!! Here are just a few of them!! If anyone can explain this phenomenon, I am all ears!! :)

Doritos!!! Oh my gah!!

Ahhh, chips and salsa!!

Tacos!

Fried Cheese Sticks!!

Fried Pickles... I mean really?
Does anyone see a pattern here??? It's all fried, greasy, bad for your body, crap!! But my mind sure does want all of this. And sure, I will even take it all at once :) I am going to need to join a support group... or maybe start one called "Pregnant Women That Can't Say No To Food!!"
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Isn't it funny the things you crave, mine was peanut m&m's & Dr. P (which I went with rootbeer for the non-caf). I never ate and now still never eat peanut m&m's...Crazy! Now, here is the sad part all those foods on your crave list are things I crave & eat now, but I'm not pregnant & have no excuse. haha!

ummm I could eat every single thing that you pictured in 2.2 seconds!!! you need to go to hap heaven and get some fried pickles - and invite me when you go :)

Ok... I am craving cheese dorritos as well.. blogged about it monday:) And anything mexican.. yum!! yum! really weird the thing your body likes/doesnt like.. right now the only kind of beef I can stand is ground.. no steaks.. no hamburgers.. which is weird for me! I "know" you and you wont get overly crazy eating bad stuff while pregnant..

Gosh. I just got super hungry!!

I could eat those fried pickles in less than 5 seconds. And I'm only eating for one. But she's a hungry one!!

Oh your list of craves looks pretty tasty to me!! I hate when I crave bad foods because nothing seems to make it go away unless I actually eat the bad food!! You seem to have pretty good self control though so I'm sure you will do great! And remember, it's OK to give in every now and then ;)

Love fried pickles.

Okay - so I have a theory and it has been right with all my friends. We'll see in time if it proves right for you.

My friends that have had boys have all craved salty, fast food and junk food type foods.

My friends that have had girls - including me - have craved healthier foods like fruit or just sweets like chocolate cake. I had huge cravings for watermelon and chocolate cake. I ate a whole personal sized watermelon one day.

Not science - just some fun ;-) I'm sure there are others out there that craved salty and had girls.

I was the same way. During my first trimester I craved fast food, and I HATE fast food. Luckily, that ended, and now that I am almost into my third trimester I am craving sweets! It's just a freak of nature I guess! Enjoy it though :-)

A few of my favorite things! I say everything in moderation!

It will eventually subside, a little, my husband's life was at risk once early in my first pregnancy, if he did not produce potato skins from Bennigans, of all places!
There was a turkey sub incidnet, too...I'd rather not go there!
Pregnancy does strange stuff to you...I ate a red onion like it was an apple, more than once.
Enjoy it!

It will calm down a little, just be thankful that you have an appetite right now- at this point in my pregnancy I couldn't eat anything (actually all I wanted was red hots... strange but true story) I would say indulge in one thing a day that you wouldn't normally- that should keep things at bay. But don't worry if you gain a little more in the beginning than you hoped, it will level off eventually!

Think about the fact that your body is working double overtime right now. There is so much going on inside of you, your body is taking every calorie in...but yes you can go way over board! I gained a lot both times, and being so short, it took me at least 6 months to lose it... I have good friends that were wearing their jeans 1 week after birth... silently hate them!

Ah! I can't offer much advice, but, I'd say, have a little of whatever your craving (just as you'd do if you were craving something and not pregnant) and try to enjoy it--that might help. i have a weakness for chips and salsa no matter what!

I'm not pregnant, but just LOOKING at those pictures makes me crave them! And, I've never even had fried pickles, but if they're as good as the rest of the stuff you have on there, I'd eat those, too! ;) Seriously...my mouth is watering!

Krystyn said...

I was the same way. I say give into your cravings; just don't eat the family portion in one sitting.

I have never had fried pickles, but I saw them on Chopped on Food Network this week, and now I want some (especially after that picture)! Good thing I just ate lunch :)

Yes yes yes! I know!

(but also, don't worry too much about your weight girl, you eat when you need to and you have to add about 300 calories for the baby anyway, so seriously girl you did a great job by losing weight and working out that will definitely help you, and that weight will come off after the baby, no doubt!)

I just found these this week and I think they are a FABULOUS substitute for Dorritos:

Don't worry, I am feeling the same! I am STARVING hungry all the time, even when I'm nauseas! What I would normally eat is just not cutting it for me anymore. I went to this workshop and they said you shouldn't increase your food intake until the 2nd trimester, but my body is telling me differently too!!! HELP!

OMG... I'm not pregnant or anything but I have been craving doritos for weeks!

luckeelady said...

I am only like 6 weeks with my second child and girl I know how you feel. I wake up in the morning starving already. Although I'm nauseated in the morning and through the afternoon when I come home I want all this stuff that is not even good for me... My cravings with my first child weren't so bad... cantaloupe, tea, and chips and dip (not so good) SALT IS BAD! So far I've only been craving meat and potatoes... and of course tea.

While I was pregnant I craved fried pickles too! I ate them! Not a lot but just every once in a while! I gained 45 pounds & lost all of the weight in 2 months! Your baby will become a natural workout! Trust me! Enjoy the fried pickles!
