WWW & Baby Gifts

Well, I abandoned WWW the past several weeks and now you know why :) Although i pretty much followed WW and my original diet up until recently I did splurge more on the weekends and I can see the results of that (IT'S NOT GOOD)! I will be honest, I am having a really hard time figuring out what to eat, what not to eat, how to adjust my caloric intake and such!! We all know I am pretty obsessive over my weight, but I have always been healthy about it! I don't want to gain too much and I don't want to too little! But in due time (and lots of research and reading) I will figure it all out. My Dr says right now the baby doesn't require THAT much extra food than I am eating already (so I can't use being pregnant as an excuse to down 4 slices of pizza instead of two) :)

I am not going to follow WW while I am pregnant but I am going to watch what I eat, as I have always done! At this point I am already having some food aversions. Not many cravings but aversions for sure. Like, for one, I was eating a salad almost every night with dinner, but now, the thought of lettuce and dressing makes me want to vomit! And I am not craving some foods as much as I once did. It's strange. But I have been reading that this is all normal. My sweet husband bought me the book "What to Expect When You're Expecting" right after we found out and I have been reading up (hence my pause on the Twilight series)!

I know there are many questions that are going to pop in my head about pregnancy and I am so glad I have some fellow bloggers that are going through or have recently gone through what I am!

So I probably won't have much going on with WWW until Baby Beanie arrives, but know that after, I will be jumping right back on the Fit Train!!! Believe me!! And I am determined to get back down to my goal weight!! It will happen :)

Hubs and I are planned to run a 10K about 3 months after Beanie is born! So I will have very little time to get prepared for that, but that's my motivation :) And I do plan to run throughout my pregnancy. After talking to my Dr, since I have been running all along, it's ok to continue. I am listening to my body and I am not pushing myself too hard. I have lowered my intensity of running and basically just jog now! It really keeps me sane and let's me know that I am working hard to keep my body in shape. Being pregnant is no excuse to gain 40 or 50 lbs. I plan to only gain around 20. I will keep you (honestly) updated on my body's changed! After all, I need some place to vent!! :)

So after sharing the news, I got some of the sweetest comments, emails, cards and even a few gifts.

My dear IRL friend Tracy made me a beautiful Auburn burp cloth. It's so cute and it means so much because she MADE it!! Thanks my dear!!

And my IRL friend Meredith got me the most precious sterling silver cup for Beanie and we will have it engraved once we know if it will be a boy or girl!!

My mom of course has done some shopping. She bought Beanie an Auburn pacifier and bib. They are precious and an Auburn baby book. So cute!

Hubs got me the cutest onsie with a little monkey on it for Valentines Day! I looove monkeys :)

Congrats on the baby news! I am totally with you on the weight gain- you should ask your dr for a reccomendation of a nutrionist- you would only need to go see them a couple times and they can help you come up with a good plan to keep on track. I am pretty thin to start, but my goal was to gain the 25 pounds my dr "required" and I gained about 27 in the end. Everyone is going to tell you "eat what you want, you are pregnant" DON'T!! I passed on all the things I normally did- cookies, brownies, cake, pizza, fried foods- and I know it helped both my and my son in the long run. I lost all of my weight in 6 weeks time. Good luck! You will be great!

It was a struggle for me to figure out what to eat and what not to eat. I had the hardest time accepting the fact of gaining weight uncontrollably...and I always dreaded the scale at the doctor's office. I ended up gaining 32 pounds, but lost all but 8 within the first month of having him (nursing is great and will help you burn more calories and lose the baby weight). :) Try not to worry too much, you will be fine! Just take care and have fun, this will be such a great time for you and your hubby! :)

I can't wait to hear about all of the fun gifts, and I definitely can't wait to see the nursery - I know it will be awesome. Since I am not and have never been pregnant, I can't give you any advice, but I will learn what I can from you :)

I showed the pacie to Brent and he said: "we are definitely having one of those when we have a baby!" hahahaha!

Congrats!

Sounds like you are allready ahead of half of the mom's to be out there! When I worked Labor and Delivery I would see moms come in who had been running throughout there pregnancy and eating healthy and they delivered so much easier then the moms who had gained 50 lbs. and never exercised. You will have stong muscles so you will not feel as strained from the belly weight.. and remember your not really eating for two when people try to pressure you to eat more.. at this point you only need a couple 100 eatra cals a day that's it. Your gonna be the cutest mom!

my doctor told me to gain anywhere from 20-35 pounds during the pregnancy, so i'll feel like i've done well if i keep it there. it's scary to see the number, but it just doesn't matter. i always heard that having a boy will make the weight fall off because i'll be chasing him around!

we got some gamecock pacifiers from Lucky In Love (blogger) and her husband a few months ago. baby gifts are so wonderful!

You'll do great maintaining a healthy weight - especially with your exercise. My doctor only wanted me gaining 10 pounds during pregnancy (cause I already had plenty of padding...ahem) and I was able to do it with just walking and moderate eating. Don't be surprised when summer rolls around if you gain some water weight in those ankles. One week I went to the dotor and gained more than I expected but she wasn't worried because she said she could tell it was all from retaining water in my ankles and legs...LOVELY!

A UT paci was the first thing we got when we found out we were preggers with Ash.

well i have zero advice in what you should eat, but I did want to tell you to not worry about the weight. focus on the baby first and the weight will come off!

congrats to you and your hubby and dogs! what a wonderful secret to keep!

i have a suggestion about your diet... pay attention to what your body wants. don't force "healthy" or "unhealthy" food down because you are eating for two... both of my pregnancies i only gained about 15-20 lbs. and felt great though the whole pregnancy. but sleep when you need it... eat when you are hungry and move when you can. it's amazing how God will let you know what to do! Congrats again!

Fun gifts!

And, yes, working out is a great idea. With my first I was teaching 7 aerobics classes a week, and slowly got down to 1. I think it paid off some, but the second, I hardly workd out at all and gained the same amount of weight.

I just found your blog this morning. I found you on Florida Transplant. And I found her on another website. It is a small world that I stumble across your blog. You caught my attention this morning when I read that you are pregnant. My husband and I just offically started trying this month. And then I read more and find out you are from Auburn. But that is okay. You see, I am an Alabama graduate. I just wanted to wish you a healthy 9 months and hopefully our due date will only be a few months behind your dues.

Good luck with your pregnancy. My doctor told me that most women gain between 25-35 lbs. If you only gain 20, count your blessings. I am 25 weeks now, and have gained 16 so far. I am hoping to stay under 35, maybe 40! :-) Anyhow, the bigger you are before getting pregnant, the less you'll gain. And, vice versa for the smaller you are. Keep us posted.

P.S. From a Birmingham girl, Go Gators! Bet you thought I'd say otherwise :-)

How exciting! And WW can wait, ha! You have to have a LITTLE bit of fun eating for two, afterall! And running a marathon right after!? You go!

Kitty Cat said...

So are you gonna find out the sex if you can? I am for sure. I am also cutting down on the intensity of my running, but still exercising, and eating as healthily as I can, but am not eating more just yet. I also aim to put on 10 kgs or so. (I think that's about 20 pounds.)Isn't this all so exciting?

Mommy In Pink said...

I honestly thought that I'd only gain 20 lbs too when I was pregnant, since I started off at barely 110 lbs and petite. 9 months later, I had ballooned to 60 lbs. So yes, it's very realistic to gain that much! It happens!
