Help me!! I can't decide!

Ladies... we are moving this weekend! O.M.G. Yeah I said it! i am frantically packing all I can and trying to do a decent job! Why is Saturday turning out to be a not so good day??

1) I have to work! from 9 - 3:30! So I will miss out on the moving and supervising (mostly the supervising) )
2) It's supposed to dang rain!! Grrrr!

But anyway we are movin along!

I need your assistance! You see, as much as I would love to go out and buy brand new furniture for most of my house, I can't! So, it requires me to do small DIY projects (which I love doing) for the time being until Hubs and I are making our millions :)

I recently ordered this new comforter for my guest room for the new house! Now, in that room, we have Hubs old bedroom furniture. I am doing away with the headboard and foot board just for a more updated look and I am going to build a headboard and upholster it! I got this idea from this fabulous new blog love of mine, This Young House! You can see their "how to DIY" here! I thought this was a great inexpensive way to update a room so we are going to try it!

Now here is where my dilemma comes in. What fabric do I use. Keep in mind I don't want to be too matchy matchy!! I want it to look kinda classic but a little funky! I want the fabric to kind of off set the comforter. That is why I went with a neutral color for that room. I can accent with any color. Here are some ideas I have for the fabric. I realize they are all over the place because I can't decide for sure what color scheme, pattern or shades to go with!! HELP! Let's take a vote and see what you ladies like best :) I am desperate for help and if you have any other suggestions I am soooo open to them!!

1.

2.

3.

My vote is for No. 2 - but I am a matchy-match person so I have a hard time stepping out of the box.

This sounds like such a fun project. Can't wait to see the finished project!

I love them all! So cute!! Good luck with the DIY project, take pics=)

I vote for #3...I think #2 might contrast a little with the browns not quite matching.

Oh, and good luck with the move! Our last two moves it rained:(

Great spread!

B/C your colors are mainly light, I would suggest going with a darker color for the headboard -- Completely solid -- This will draw attention to the details of the comforter set and the headboard will only accent it more beautifully :)

BTW -- My SIL Tory is FABULOUS with design -- Visit her blog and ask for her advice -- She'd flip to help you out!

hi, i'm a new reader! i like no. 1 just because our accent wall in our house is that color and if you really want an accent color, that will POP! no. 2 is my second choice though it will be more subtle. i love the pattern of the fabric though! good luck!

I like 2 and 4!

I vote #1- all the way. I love non-matchy-matchy looks! I think the orange color will make a great focal point for the room! I am attempting a DIY headboard in July! Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I love #1 and #5! I can't wait to see how it turns out!

First of all I love the bedspread. My vote is number 4. I think thats the best one.... and moving can be fun, just breathe and take it slow, xoxo

I like #2!!!!

I would go with #2. Since you're bringing in the different patterns, I would stay in the same color family.

But that's just me!

Good luck with the move!

I think I like 2 and 4 best! 2 if you want a pop 4 if you want it to blend! It will look fabulous with any of them! Good luck.

#2 for me.

#1 or #3.. I love color : )

I'm not a matchy-matchy fan, but I really think #2 is the best bet. It stays in the same color family but has a different enough pattern to break up the matchiness. I fear the others might be a bit too different from the comforter to give you a cohesive look. That's my 2 cents!

I love number 3. It would look so cute with that bedspread. :) Good luck glad you are having so much fun!

I'm going to have to go with 2! Can't wait to see the finished product :)

I like #2!!

I vote for the second (the brown damask)--even though it kind of "matches" I think it "goes" more than it "matches".

I'm sure the move will go great even if you can't be there to supervise!! Good luck! Can't wait to see pictures of the house once you've gotten settled.

#4 is my favorite fabric! but i think #2 would look best with the comforter. how much fun! can't wait to see pictures!

My vote is for number 1 or number 5, I like them both. All of your options are pretty though. It would just come down to how funky you wanted to be :)

Gwen said...

I so wish I could help you supervise this weekend!!!

My vote is for number 1!!! I love orange with really neutral colors. I plan on doing an orange wall in our living room that is full of khaki and green.

Can't wait to see what you decide on. XOXO

My favorite is #2!

Definitely #2! I agree with Jennifer - if you are going to use a pattern like that, stay in the same color family. I think the orange would be waaay too out of the box to still look classic.

Can't wait to see the finished product!

I say #1 - the orange would pop!! You could add orange accents on the bed too!!!

GREAT IDEA!!!!!

what a great comforter I love #2

Girl, I love your comforter! I was kind of wanting something like that for our guest room (instead it is just plain white with fun pillows). Anyway, I did use blue and brown in the room. Okay, I digress. I love pairing unexpected items together and pops of color so I love #1, but it will be way out there. I'm trying to decide if it is too far. Therefore, I like number 4 also because it is a different kind of damask print. The green damask would would be different, but I'm not sure I like that shade of green with with comoforter. I think I like the lime color of number 5 better than number 3. Okay, there is my way too long opinion.

If your walls are going to be close to that color #2 would look great, close enough for it to match but the fabric contrast will definitely stand out and set off your comforter. Although I do love the red and the green.... just not sure what wall color would look OK with it.

Personally I love #1 but I'm not sure how it will look paired with the bedspread. I think #2 would look awesome and then you could add pops of color with accessories. Can't wait to see the finished project - good luck!

I like #4. And I hattteeee physically moving things, so I would be happy if I could miss out on the process. Hope it goes swimmingly!

I'm thinking 1 or 2, I really like the orange! I think it would be a great contrast color! I love the fabrics too! Good luck on your move!! So exciting!!!

All great fabrics!
You need to keep in mind that the fabric width will only be 54" wide max so, you may need to seam it if your bed is wider or get a fabric that doesn't have a "direction"
Does that make sense?
I have done a few of these and am happy to help if you have any questions!

#1 or #5 ..... so different!!!

Petunia said...

I really like # 4!! I would be worried about using another brown because they might clash.

Victoria said...

SO excited to find your blog, Thanks Anna :-) So I am thinking you could for sure do #2 or #3.

I'm going with #1.. That orange is going to POP with the cream and brown!

I tend to like things a little funky though so... =)

And I love that comforter by the way!!

1... or 2..... or 5!
I like them all!

2 or 4. I would try stay with the same colour scheme seeing as you're breaking away with a different pattern.

Being Brazen said...

I like number 2 or no 5.

I think both will look good.

Number 5 is nice because then maybe you can bring green in as an accent colour :)

If you want to keep it calm and dreamy go with the light blue color...If you want to add some pizazz add the orange for some knock out color!!!
