No covering this up!

My baby bump, that is! I mean, let's be honest... I am not going to be small by any means when swimsuit season hits full force!! I am actually going to be quite large! I mean June, July and August, HELLO, here comes BIG PREGNANT LADY in a bathing suit! We live right next to a lake, we have a boat... we spend time on water :) or near it anyway!

So I posted a while back about bathing suits and that was obviously a little premature! I am pretty sure I won't be wearing those hot little numbers! But let me tell ya, I also DO NOT WANT TO WEAR A MATERNITY SWIMSUIT! What I have seen thus far, they ARE NOT cute AT ALL! I mean I am already going to feel so HUGE I at least want a cute suit to wear! Now granted, I will be able to wear a regular tankini for the beginning, but near the end I will need a GINORMOUS suit! And I am just not happy about that! Maybe I will just wear a normal tankini in an XL and wear a suit cover up!

Hubs and I are going to the beach next week for our one year anniversary (April 12th)! We will be gone Thursday through Monday! And I couldn't be more excited! This vacation/celebration is much needed with all we have had going on! We decided to not exchange gifts due to our new... house, furniture, desk, baby... we didn't think it was necessary to get each other gifts this year! Our trip is our gift to each other and it will be a blast! I am sooo looking forward to it!

Back to bathing suits... I am planning to wear my bathing suits from last year to our trip, no need in buying one I won't be able to fit into in a few months and might not be stylish next year :) I am not really showing yet so I am not worried about this trip. But we are going back in May for a wedding and well I will be 19 weeks pregnant. Almost 5 months. So you can bet I will be showing then! So I have to have something by then! HELP ME! :)

Here are a few maternity suits I have seen...

(this one is by far the best-it's a tankini and that's def what i want)

When you are used to wearing sometime like this...

...it's hard to imagine putting on a big ol' tankini!
Just remind me later that it doesn't matter what I look like in a bathing suit this year, I mean I am pregnant and all :)

I never bought a maternity suit! The only problem I had was with the girls! They were a little bit over-sized. So, I did what every cheap person does...I put on a maternity tanktop over the suit and went to the pool. That's just me. I can think of a lot better things to spend $50+ on!

The blue and brown ones are so cute!! You will be a very cute mommy to be! I'm sure you will look fabulous throughout your pregnancy :)

Oh sweetie - this part of being pregnant SUCKS!! Before you spend a lot on any of these, make sure you check out Liz Lange at Target. She has some really cute ones every year and they are cheap! I had the same one for my first 2 kids and I loved it!! Now with this one - a swim suit is far from my mind =)! Oh and by 19 weeks - you will probably not be showing too much so you can wear a fun one still - my favorite was yours the tankini that was grey/gunmetal.

Ok how did I miss the memo you were pregnant?! Congrats! I'm sure you're going to look beyond cute in whatever you choose. :)

I love the first and third one.... the first one looks like it may be easy to hide behind and be sexy. The third one is super cute and if you want to show off some belly and be sexy at the same time that is the way to go. My bathing suit was like the third just different print. I honestly am very proud of my huge bump during pregnancy. I felt no need to hide it as long as it wasn't showing my stretch marks in the end :)

Aww... its totally normal.. its not like you have gained weight you have a little person inside of ya, hahah.... and I like the polka dot one, not soooo bad.. and only buy one, bc then you will be wearing your bikinis in no time!! xoxo

First off - I know you will look great in any of them. You will just look like a proud mama to be :) Now, I am not and have not been pregnant, so in my humble opinion, I like the black one ( I think it is number three, the one with the fun print on the straps). I think it is sophisticated and funky, and has a little edge with the pattern and being black. I would totally choose that one for myself!

You would look great in any of them! You will be a hot preggie momma!

You and your hubby going away on a trip and not exchanging gifts is what my hubby and I do every year for our anniversary. We made a deal on our honeymoon that instead of exchanging gifts every year that we would just get away together on our anniversary - even if just for a night. I love that tradition!! We did have to break it on year three because I was two weeks away from delivering Ashley and couldn't travel but we still just had a fun day instead of trading gifts. I personally love it so much more than doing gifts.

I will tell you that I had a maternity suit (I bought it at Pea in the Pod... so it was absurdly priced at over $150) and it was HUGE (even in the XS at 32 weeks). I would say look for some larger suits (lots of swimwear designers are making really long tankinis now)and check out Target.. even though they are cheap(er) they are perfect for the couple of months you will actually wear it (Liz Lange has some really cute ones this year actually)

Oh girl I feel the same way. We are headed to Jamaica at the end of this month and I'll be 21 weeks...dear lord I'm going to look like a beached whale!!!

I LOVE the last silver/gray tankini! So cute!! I'm sure you will look great!

Where did you find those suits? I have been looking a little, but they all look like old lady ones. With my first pregnancy I was VERY pregnant and putting on a suit was not something I wanted to do. This year I will be big, but I will want to get out in the water with Carter.

I personally like the pink one. How cute that would be with a big floppy sun hat. Very cute!

I love the blue and brown one! It is really cute for a maternity suit (looks like I'm a poet and I didn't even know it ... ha!).

I would try to stay in a normal suit if I could..but I can imagine it being hard as things grow like the never have! haha. I'm sure you will continue to look great!

The blue and brown ones are really cute! I had a friend that was 8 months pregnant a couple summers ago and she still wore a bikini. She had a huge belly, but still looked great because she was confident and didn't care. I say do whatever you want!

Blue-Eyed Bride said...

So... I'm not buying a maternity suit at all. I could only wear it in May and June and I'll be 8 and 9 months pregnant. No thank you! :) The last one is really cute though!

Gwen said...

Even though you'll probably laugh at me...I say you are fabulous enough to strut your stuff in a bikini even at 9 months pregnant!!! If the celebs can do it so can you. Really though and of them will look great on you. XOXO

I like the first two suits. Very cute!

I love the tankini, but I think pregnant women in bikinis are HOT! Seriously!

Cute bathing suits!! It's getting me excited for summer!!
Cute blog too! I am a current student at AU!

I actually like the first bathing suit, I don't think any of them are that bad at all. But I've seen pregnant women flaunt their big bellies in a normal bikini...so if you dare, why not? Lucky for me, I'll be big in our winter (we're opp to you guys) so I don't have to worry about bikinis, thankfully. Just remember that once you look pregnant, people will "understand".

Cute suits! I like the tankini with the polka dots!

GingerSnap said...

I would just purchase a regular binkini (maybe in a larger size to accomodate the girls) and just let the belly hang out. I think it takes some confidence, but I think it looks fabulous!

You'll still look adorable!

I love the polka dot one! However, you will look wonderful in any!

the first one is super cute! you will look adorable in anything!

I think the gray one is definitely adorable (and most normal-like), but to be honest, pregnant women look adorable on the beach in any bathing suit :)

Sweet Carolina Bride said...

You will be too cute in any bathing suit you wear! You have the most fun style and are absolutely gorgeous! I'm sure you'll find a cute funky suit that will make you the cutest mama-to-be on the beach!

Ashmommy said...

i say rock a bathing suit with the belly out. I think it's BEAUTIFUL and seriously you probably be all stomach anyways. LOVE YOUR BODY!

amy said...

I bet you won't even need to buy one, unless you really want one. At 5 months, you won't be showing all that much - your current suits will probably stretch over the bump just fine. If it was going to be later in your pregnancy, it'd be more of an issue, I think.

My kid is 7 months old and I can't remember far enough back to know if I was showing....it's in my blot, though, for sure - around May of 2008.
