Push Present

I am assuming that everyone has heard of a push present??? If not you can find the meaning here. I thought long and hard about what I wanted! It seems jewelry is the most popular push gift! I just wasn't sure that is what I particularly wanted. Several things came to mind as I pondered and dreamed ...

David Yurman Petite Albion Black Onyx Ring I have wanted a DY ring for a looong time and why not try for one now right??

David Yurman Cable Collectible Initial Necklace While browsing the rings, I ran across this... and absolutely fell in love!! PERFECT!

I even pondered hinting at a pre-planned 1st family vacation.

But ultimately I felt like I needed to demand ask for something I could USE! Something I have always wanted but never REALLY needed until now... a Canon Rebel. I could never justify asking for one considering most of my picture taking took place at bars, restaurants, family functions and outings with friends! So I have always had a pocket sized Kodak! Well ladies, what better reason to upgrade your camera that a beautiful new child. We have lots of memories we want to capture of Addison! I am quite sure I will be one of those annoying picture taking crazy moms :)
Here are the two cameras that are vying for my heart!! I lean toward the XS but I still have some research to do! And what better place to purchase than Amazon, right?? :) (hint hint)
Any advice you ladies have on these cameras, I am open to!! I just can't wait to snap some beautiful pics of my precious little girl with one of these AMAZING cameras!! :)

Hahaha. Should I print out this post and stick it somewhere my hubby is sure to find it? The man did not even believe me when I explained the concept of a "push present".

Everyone I know who has had a Rebel has loved it!

I love DY and have been eyeing that same ring for awhile!! Best of luck in picking!

I am not even engaged yet but I already have made it a point to make sure my bf is aware of what a push present is! Does that make me really weird? haha

That being said...I think a camera is a really great idea. I know a couple people who have the rebel and love it...plus it takes great pictures!

I think that is a great push present idea! I don't have one of those cameras yet (I am worried I would break it, I am REALLY HARD on cameras =)), but Tara has one and it takes AWESOME pictures!! I am sure she will comment and tell you what she thinks =)!

A camera is definitely a fabulous push present. I still use a pocket camera so I can't give you much advice on that one but I can't wait to hear which you get. :) XOXO

I'm in love with the DY rings, but I've never seen that necklace--it's great! Thanks for posting.

These are the exact two cameras I narrowed my list down to as well. With the help of a photographer friend, I ended up choosing the XS (and I love it!) It seemed to be a better deal for the money (the XS came with a lens kit) and had everything (and probably more) that I needed to upgrade my shooting.

You can't go wrong either way :-)

I just got my first SLR "mommy camera." I LOVE it!!!
I went with the Nikon D60. I think both Nikon and Cannon are great cameras. I would suggest going in the store to buy one so that you can compare them. You want to actually hold one. Of course you don't have to buy one in the store, but it wouldn't hurt to actually look at what you are buying.

I was actually trying to decide between those two cameras as well, and after talking to my photography friend, decided on the XS for the same reason southern daze did, better deal for the money. And I was also told you are probably going to want to upgrade the lens at some point(Christmas or Birthday present LOL)

The Canon Rebel Xsi is the best camera! It is very easy to use, and would be perfect with a newborn. I own it, and love taking portraits in Aperture Priority mode (so easy!). Plus, you can get good deals online with the body and a good kit lens. It takes beautiful photos!

This is not to say that I don't love the jewelry . . .

All great ideas--I have the Yurman ring in the green color (prasolite i believe they call it) and I am totally obsessed. For some reason, I got it in my head that the circular one covers more surface area, but you can't go wrong either way. Whatever it is, you deserve an awesome present for bringing a precious life into the world!

The jewelry is gorgeous. But that lovely camera would come in handy after the little one is born!

I have been reading for a while and this is my first time commenting, but I wanted to share with you that I just purchased a Nikon D40 which is very similiar to a Canon Rebel. I have two small children and I only wish I had bought it sooner. So you are very wise.

You should also know that there is giveaway at preparingforamiracle.blogspot.com that is giving away a Canon Rebel!

You are too cute! I asked my DH for a ring for my push presents! And well I have been begging for the camera for a long time! I have the Canon Rebel Film Camera that he got me for my B'day during our last deployment and it takes fantastic photos! I had originally wanted the Nikon but we have went out and looked oh so many times and the more I look the more I want the Canon. If you watch best buy they alternate doing specials with the nikon and the canon and you get them on sale with some extras! Great deals! I agree you should totally go hold it and play with one before buying!

I actually just got a Nikon D60 for a push present. I'm loving it so far and I cannot wait to use it on our new baby girl who is due in September!

LOVE David Yurman!!! But what you could do is go for the pre-planned family vacay to the Caribbean and then buy your DY ring and necklace DUTY FREEEEEE!!!!!

I own the Nikon D90 and absolutely LOVE it. It came highly recommended from a friend of ours who is an amateur photog. It is super easy to use and it takes video in High Def. The D60 is slightly smaller (and lighter) and is also a great option.

I have definitely thought about a push present and decided that I want a piece of jewelry that I can hand down to the child on their wedding day (either for my bride or my groom's bride) to create an heirloom piece.

first...go for the gold when asking for a present- I asked for a pearl bracelet and a DY pearl ring (my baby girl was born in June) and I got both! Guess he felt bad! I asked for both never expecting them, it's amazing what they are willing to do for you when you pop out their baby!!
As far as the camera goes, you will not be sorry in purchasing a good one, my only advice is make sure you get one with an ion rechargable battery- i orginally bought one that was a good brand, but required AA's- I was constantly buying new batteries! You get enough of that with a baby and their toys! So I took it back under warranty and got a different one and I could not be happier! My battery lasts forever which is good when you're on a shooting spree!!!
Good luck!! And the clothes situation doesn't get any easier! My 2 month old's closet is growing by the day!!!!
